A man who pleaded guilty last month to taking sexually explicit photos of kids while baby sitting in Suffolk was sentenced Friday to 18 years in prison.
Benjamin Fielman, 27, pleaded guilty to multiple child pornography and child sexual abuse charges. He admitted to taking photos and videos of three young girls ages 7-11 years old.
Prosecutors say the abuse occurred over several years as he worked as a baby sitter and assistant teacher at the Suffolk JCC in Commack.
In court, Fielman apologized to his victims and the judge. His attorney said that his client is already getting counseling.
Fielman had already been serving time for abusing a 7-year-old girl in Florida. It was that case that led authorities to discover the other abuse victims in Suffolk.
District Attorney Tim Sini issued a statement that said, "While there is no amount of jail time that can alleviate the trauma he caused his victims, today's sentence is a significant step toward holding him accountable."
