Multiple officials in Nassau are reassuring homeowners that they are not in imminent danger of losing their homes, despite a mailer from a law firm that is attempting to drum up business.
The letter states “you need to take immediate action to keep your home.” It was sent to homeowners in Hempstead, North Hempstead and Oyster Bay.
News 12 was told that what the law firm is doing is not illegal, but officials say it is wrong to use scare tactics.
Officials say they will be filing a complaint with the Nassau Bar Association.
