Police: 6 injured in LIE chain-reaction crash

A six-vehicle crash shut down part of the Long Island Expressway for hours Wednesday morning.
The incident occurred in the westbound lanes at Exit 44 around 9:15 a.m.
Police say a tractor-trailer, three box trucks and two cars were involved.
Officials say two people had serious injuries while four others had minor injuries.
All lanes of the LIE reopened around 4:30 p.m.
