Police say they arrested the man who fatally shot a father of six in North Bellport on Father’s Day.
Police charged 22-year-old Timothy White, of North Bellport, in the killing of James Skinner, of Queens.
News 12 reported that the 50-year-old father was fatally wounded trying to break up a brawl that erupted outside a house on Doane Avenue.
Police say Skinner was at the house for a Father's Day party when a group of uninvited guests showed up and started a fight.
Police did not provide information about what sparked the fight and what led to White's arrest.
News 12 was told that White lived in a homeless shelter in North Bellport but left the residence shortly after the shooting.
White is being held at the 5th Precinct. He is set to be arraigned Wednesday at First District Court in Central Islip.
Police say White was also part of an illegal gun trafficking operation in Suffolk.
