Fairfield police officers worked behind the counter of an ice cream shop, Saugatuck Sweets, this weekend to raise funds for the department’s scholarship fund.
The fund supports students at four Fairfield high schools.
The department hopes to raise $5,000.
Lt. Keith Broderick said, “"This is our fifth year of scholarship fund, second year of scooping. Saugatuck Sweets was nice enough to open his business to us so we have officers come through, scoop ice cream for a couple hours, and all proceeds of the tips, not the sales, come to the scholarship fund."
