Over 100 children celebrated the start of the World Cup with a free soccer clinic.
Participants were invited to the Roberto Clemente Park in Brentwood to receive training.
"I think it's important because the kids need a safe place to play,” said organizer William Ferro, of Liga de Justicia. “I mean look around this park, it's a huge park and there hasn't been anybody in years so together with Legislator Monica Martinez we got this idea to start filling the park.”
Organizers say they wanted to give the community an opportunity to use the park for something positive.
Each child who attended and their dad also received a free soccer ball in honor of Father’s Day.
