Photographer Vivian Maier is making New Jersey Proud.
Maier was a former nanny who had a secret talent for photography. She is known for taking black and white photographs that show street life during the 1950s and 1960s. A documentary about her life was nominated for an Oscar.
Maier died in 2009, but her photographs are now being shown at the 70 South Gallery in Morristown.
The negatives for these photos were tucked away for many years. Maier received no recognition for her talents during her life – only after she died.
The opening reception at 70 South Gallery will be next Tuesday evening.
The exhibit is open to the public.
