Police: Fatal police-involved shooting in Merrick was justified

Posted: Updated:

Nassau police say a deadly police-involved shooting on June 6 in Merrick was justified.

Nassau Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder says the man shot and killed by police officers was naked and brandishing a large shard of glass in his hands, and that he charged at the officers.

Police were responding to a domestic incident.

Ryder says the officers later found a gun on the floor nearby.
