First responders say they are working to fix a major problem with their emergency radios.

They say emergency radio signals are being blocked because of certain buildings in the area.  

A town ordinance drafted 10 years ago requires property owners to install an internal system to allow communication during an emergency.

Officials say they are now making sure all new and old buildings have the technology.

"All the brick, concrete, steel, the ultraviolet protection on the windows. It all hampers the communications from these antennas,” says borough administrator Gregory S. Franz. “So in response to that, these internal amplification systems need to be installed."

The system could cost anywhere from $50,000 to $100,000 depending on the size of the building.
