Residents in Selden say they are fed up and are avoiding certain streets because of massive potholes.

Some of the large craters can be seen on King Avenue, ranging in more than a foot in diameter.

As News 12 Long Island has reported, the Town of Brookhaven Highway Superintendent Dan LoSquadro said preliminary work on the streets would begin in April, if the weather permitted. He says work on Kings Avenue wont start until July because of a nearby school. 

Residents say they've spent thousands of dollars fixing their cars after driving over the potholes. They say complaints to the town do nothing.

"They're frustrated and aggravated to hear from me, or hear from my neighbors," says resident Eric Leonard. "They don't want to hear from us, they hurry us off the phone, they don't respond to anything on Facebook, they're not listening. They really have their head in the sand."

Some residents say quick patches over the potholes only last a couple of months.
