Long Island communities hold Memorial Day parades

Communities across Long Island held their Memorial Day parades on Monday.
Hundreds marched through the streets of Glen Cove and many more cheered them on to honor the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice.
Several elected officials were on hand, including Nassau County Executive Laura Curran, Rep. Tom Suozzi, and Gov. Andrew Cuomo.
Army veteran and Glen Cove native Paul McDermott, who fought in both Korea and Vietnam, was chosen to be this year's grand marshal.
Earlier Monday, Westbury's parade made its way up Post Avenue. Participants said it was important to take time out their day to see veterans and honor those lost.
