Two New Canaan police officers are being celebrated for saving the life of a patrolman who almost died during a fitness test.
The police chief says Officer Jeffery Pollock was taking a physical fitness test on Saturday when something went wrong. He survived thanks to officers Rex Sprosta and Tom Callinan, who jumped in and used medical equipment to save his life.
The department held its annual memorial ceremony Wednesday afternoon, grateful that there was not another name added to the list of those who died on the job.
"He is one of our best officers, and we are very grateful his life is saved and he's able to continue serving with us," says Chief Leon Krolikowki.
A ceremony is being planned for Pollock to present medals to the colleagues who saved him.
