Stop & Shop is voluntarily recalling a frozen broccoli product due to concerns about listeria contamination.
The supermarket chain issued the recall for Private Brand Frozen Broccoli Cuts (16 oz.) with a sell-by date of March 15, 2020 and UPC code 68826700926. Stop & Shop says that the supplier notified them that the produce may have listeria monocytogenes.
Stop & Shop says that all of the products have been removed from store shelves and that customers are urged to return the broccoli to their local store for a full refund.
The store says that there have been no reports of any illnesses from the broccoli and that the recall is being issued as a precaution.
Consuming food contaminated with listeria monocytogenes can cause listeriosis, an uncommon but potentially fatal disease. Healthy people rarely contract listeriosis.  However, listeriosis can cause high fever, severe headache, neck stiffness and nausea. Anyone feeling sick after eating the product should contact a medical professional.
Concerned customers may contact Stop & Shop’s Customer Support Center at 1-800-767-7772.
