Farmingdale-bound pilot killed in Virginia plane crash

The pilot of a small plane died after crashing at the start of a flight from Virginia to Farmingdale.

The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating what caused the single-engine aircraft to go down shortly after taking off from Chesapeake Airport, located just outside Norfolk, Virginia.

Local news outlets report that there was heavy fog at the time.

The identity of the pilot, who was the only person on board, has not yet been released.
