Police: Mastic man jumps into river to escape police

A Mastic man was arrested after jumping into a river to escape police. 

According to police, 24-year-old Kareem Eppes was pulled over during a traffic stop on Poospatuck Lane in Mastic Tuesday morning.

Police say Eppes, who was wanted on two outstanding warrants, then drove to the dead end of Abby Lane and jumped into the Forge River.

He was spotted about 20 minutes later in distress.

Officers rescued him, and placed him under arrest.
