A Medford man was arrested yesterday in the 2011 slaying of a Mastic Beach woman.
William Hubbard, 48, was arrested Thursday in Manorville on a murder charge in the death of 26-year-old Shanell Malave.
Malave was found strangled in her bed at her Magnolia Drive home in Mastic Beach on May of 2011.
Hubbard was arraigned today on the charge of murder in the second degree, as well as charges related to alleged sexual abuse and threatening a witness. He pleaded not guilty.

Police said Hubbard was known to the victim's family.
Suffolk DA Tim Sini said a break in the cold case came recently when an investigator took another look at the evidence from seven years ago.
Hubbard's attorney said his client claims he is innocent.

The judge held Hubbard without bail based on several other previous arrests and convictions.
