Report: Rear-end crashes on the rise at Suffolk red-light cameras

Rear-end crashes at red-light cameras in Suffolk County are reportedly on the rise.
Newsday reports that rear-end collisions rose by more than 35 percent in 2016.
The report also found that accidents with injuries dropped by 1.5 percent.
County officials say the cameras promote safety. But some lawmakers and residents say the program is a cash cow for the county.
The cameras have generated nearly $31 million in fines and fees.
