A group of local schools will benefit from $1 million in funding for the 45th District participatory budget this year.

P.S. 193 will get a new library. I.S. 285 will have its auditorium upgraded. P.S. 208K will get a fully equipped computer lab.

Students above the age of 11 had a say in how the funds would be spent.

"I'm so happy that my vote actually counts to improve my community," says Kaitlynn Dior.

The upgrades are expected to be made in the coming months.
