A man who survived six brain aneurysms returned to work today, alongside the heroes who helped save his life.
Billy Simmons is a patient-family-experience coordinator at LIJ Valley Stream Hospital. He became a patient last year, when he collapsed during the hospital's first annual Christmas tree lighting.
He had six brain aneurysms, and one had burst.
"I'm living proof that miracles do happen,” says Simmons. “I can't believe I'm sitting here so soon after such an event. I'm just grateful to God, grateful to family, grateful to co-workers, cousins, everybody."
Simmons says he was supposed to undergo about six weeks of rehabilitation after surgery, but was ready to go in just two weeks.
