EAST FARMINGDALE -

An illegal drag race ended with a wild wreck and several people in the hospital.

The incident occurred on April 15 on Central Avenue in Farmingdale. The two cars involved, a BMW and a Nissan, were hardly recognizable after the incident.

Suffolk police say they arrested an 18-year-old man from Wyandanch for causing the crash. His identity was not released.

Investigators say two people in the Nissan, which was pulling out of a parking lot at the time of the crash, had to be hospitalized with multiple injuries.

Police say the teenager had his car impounded and was charged with assault, reckless driving and drag racing.

He's scheduled to appear in court in July.
