Behavioral analysts call for change in licensing law

Posted: Updated:
SEAFORD -

Therapists who treat children with special needs are asking for the removal of a loophole that limits their role to serve only one sect of children in need.

Back in 2014, a law was passed that licensed behavioral analysts, but it only included the autistic population.

Behavior analysts are calling for the licensing language to be changed to include the ability to work with all special needs populations that would benefit from behavior support – such as children with ADHD or Down syndrome.

Licensed behavior analysts along with their patients will be lobbying in Albany on May 7 to call for the change.
