More car-free zones coming to Jersey City

A new trend in downtown Jersey City could have more people traveling on foot and fewer on wheels.
The city is considering extending the Newark Avenue pedestrian plaza by another block to Jersey Avenue.
This could include resurfacing the street in another material to make it more pedestrian-friendly as well as adding more places to sit.
Four years ago, a block of Newark Avenue near the Grove Street PATH station became off-limits to drivers.
The city says it is only in the planning stages of the project. Before any decisions are made, city leaders will get input from the community.
