Westport police say they arrested a man for carrying a pistol without a permit Sunday morning.  

Officials say they pulled over the man, who was driving more than twice the speed limit, and arrested him on Bayberry Lane. 

They say Tony Bowens, of Shelton, had an outstanding warrant for failing to appear in court. He had his pistol license revoked as a result.

The handgun was found under the driver's seat, with bullets in the console.
