Boogie Down Bites: Hungry Bird

An Indian restaurant differentiates itself from other Bronx eateries by serving up big portions of healthy food to its customers.
Hungry Bird is owned by Mahtab Chowdhury, whose goal is to make the restaurant stand out from other places that serve “junk food.”
One of the most popular dishes, goan shrimp curry, is made using over 50 herbs and spices imported from India.
The main ingredient is coconut cream. The dish gets its name from Goa, a coastal state in India that has a growing abundance of coconuts.
Nan bread is also served with the dish. It's made in a tandoor, or a special clay oven.
