A Port Jefferson woman was arrested Thursday after police say an investigation led them to believe that her 4-year-old son consumed a marijuana-laden brownie.
Authorities say 29-year-old Sydney Marquez advertised and planned to host the “First Annual Good Vibes Party” at her home in Port Jefferson on 4/20 – the unofficial marijuana holiday.
Suffolk District Attorney Tim Sini says Marquez is a drug dealer and the mother of a 4-year-old son.
"This was an ongoing investigation, which was a terrific job done by the New York State Police,” says Sini.
Sini says state police were going to execute a search warrant during the party, but then “intelligence was received by state police that she fed marijuana to her 4 ½-year-old son.”
The child was taken to a hospital, then released. News 12 was told he is in the care of a family member.
Authorities say Marquez was selling pot, mushrooms and THC on Facebook and then mailing out those packages to her customers. She is facing multiple drug charges, as well as unlawful dealing with a child.
Marquez is due back in court on April 25.
