Monday's storm left behind flooding and debris across northern New Jersey.
Floodwaters quickly gushed through sections of Hawthorne, closing several streets early in the day and leaving piles of wood and garbage behind.
Goffle Road was among the streets closed down, where front-end loaders were called in to move out debris once the rain subsided.
The industrial section of the town was particularly affected, causing some businesses including a concrete shop to have to close early in order to seek higher ground.
Bassam Berouk owns a business that fixes up cars before they are resold, and he says the waters moved so fast that he couldn't move all of his vehicles before flooding overwhelmed the area.
Tree stumps, limbs and tires were among the left behind items removed before roads were reopened in Hawthorne.
