Consumer Alert: Protecting your passwords

Experts are recommending a password manager for those who struggle to remember their complex passwords.
In order to keep your accounts safe, it is important to use not only passwords that are different from one another but that are also complex and secure. Having to manage those many passwords, however, can be an impractical hassle.
Password managers like LastPass, 1 Password and Keeper will store, encrypt and create passwords for you. The applications can be used on all your devices and will automatically enter your passwords into sites you regularly visit. The only password you will need to remember is the master password to the manager.
Experts recommend protecting your master password with two-factor authentication. Any users, including yourself, who try to log on from an unfamiliar device will trigger an authentication system that will send a confirmation text to your phone.
