SUNY Maritime College students and staff members, as well as community residents, sought solutions to the parking program around Pennyfield Avenue at a meeting hosted by the Schuyler Hill Civic Association Tuesday night.
They say they have been dealing with the lack of public parking in the area for years. The campus hosts about 1,800 students and about 300 staff members.
A Maritime College spokesperson says parking has been an issue for 10 to 20 years and that making improvements around the area is beyond the school’s control.
A spokesperson also says that the college would welcome improvements by the state.
People at the meeting say they plan to create a paper trail of complaints to get something done. They also plan on working with local law enforcement agencies and officials.
