Man accused of killing woman, injuring 8 in LIE crash arraigned

A Mastic man accused of driving high and causing a deadly crash on the Long Island Expressway Saturday was arraigned Monday.
The district attorney says that Peter Visconti Jr. was driving his 2004 Ford pickup truck erratically and at a high rate of speed heading west on the LIE before he crossed the median into oncoming traffic.
The DA says Visconti's driver's license was suspended at the time of the crash. Visconti also illegally had prescription drugs in his pocket, according to court documents.
The name of the victim in the second minivan has not been released, but the prosecutor said in court that all the passengers were Chinese nationals.
Cassie White, who lives near Visconti, says his wife died in an accident in Manorville in December soon after they had a baby.

Visconti's bond was set at $25,000. His next scheduled court date in April 9.
