Authorities say five people were hospitalized after a fire broke out early Saturday morning at a home in West Babylon.
The call came in shortly before 5:30 a.m. for the fire on Sixth Street. Fire crews from West Babylon, North Babylon and Babylon village responded to the scene, and officials say the flames were put out within 20 minutes.
Five people were taken to Good Samaritan Hospital, including one person who was unconscious. Officials say they were being treated for smoke inhalation and other injuries, but their current conditions are unclear. Their identities weren't released.
Officials say there were also pets in the home, but they were not affected by the fire.
The cause of the fire is not known at this time, but arson investigators are looking into it.
