Bay Park Sewage Treatment Plant still relies on generators

There are still power problems at the Bay Park Sewage Treatment Plant five years after Superstorm Sandy.
During Superstorm Sandy, the sewage treatment plant flooded and overflowed into the streets. To prevent that from happening again, FEMA built a wall that keeps floodwaters from penetrating the facility.
Sen. Charles Schumer said Wednesday that the wall is a good start. He also said the plant should not be reliant on generators for its power supply.
“They provide adequate power right now, but God forbid there's another Sandy. Those generators could be taken out,” said the senator.
Sen. Schumer called for a “direct line of power from PSEG into these plants.”
The power project cannot be completed until FEMA approves it.
