Residents in a Massapequa Park say they have mixed feelings about PSEG Long Island's tree-trimming efforts in order to prevent power outages in future storms.
Massapequa Park Mayor Jeffrey Pravato says the trees that lined Park Boulevard were the beauty of their downtown, but since the trees were trimmed by PSEG last week, things look different.
PSEG trimmed the trees away from the power lines on Friday.
After being hit with four nor'easters in just three weeks, PSEG officials say trimming the trees can prevent power outages in the future.

“It really is kinda ugly, but we don't want to lose power - that’s more of an inconvenience than anything,” says Anthony Mastrandrea, of Massapequa.

PSEG Long Island sent News 12 a statement that says in part that it values their relationship with the village of Massapequa Park and is looking to work closely with the mayor to address the issue. The mayor says he will be meeting with the utility next week.
