Suffolk police: 1 dead in head-on crash

One man is dead and another is injured following a head-on crash in Hauppauge.

Suffolk police say it happened shortly before 6 a.m. Saturday on Joshuas Path at Prime Place.

One male driver was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police. He has been identified as 69-year-old Ruben Ferreira, of Lawrenceville, Georgia.

The driver of the other vehicle,  31-year-old Kenneth Cluen, of Farmingville, was taken to Southside Hospital with injuries that are not considered life-threatening.

Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks and police say an investigation into the crash is continuing.
