Cheddar business report: Ford recall, Google's cryptocurrency crackdown

NEW YORK -

Ford is recalling over 1 million midsize vehicles in the U.S. because of steering wheel issues.

The company says the bolts loosen over time and the wheel can detach from the column, causing drivers to lose control. The recall applies to all 2014 to 2018 Ford Fusion and Lincoln MKZ models.

Google is cracking down on cryptocurrency-related advertising. The tech giant announced it will no longer allow ads about digital currency or related content, including initial coin offerings and trading advice. While the crypto craze has produced a lot of excitement and wealth, it is still largely unregulated and susceptible to scams.

Elon Musk is recruiting employees from the satirical publication the Onion, including the former editor-in-chief and the executive editor to work on a secret comedy project. The Daily Beast says the Tesla CEO wanted to buy the Onion years ago but never went through with it.
