A man is accused of driving drunk, crashing into a Suffolk police vehicle and injuring the officer who was inside.
Investigators say 28-year-old Dennis Knapp, of Shirley, was drunk behind the wheel when he slammed into a police cruiser on the Montauk Highway at Old South Country Road in Brookhaven Saturday.
News 12 is told the officer was manning a road closure for downed wires at the time and was taken to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
Prosecutors say Knapp refused sobriety and chemical testing.
Knapp is charged with DWI. He was ordered held on $5,000 bond.
