A registered sex offender from Florida is accused of sexually abusing three children in Suffolk when he was their baby sitter.
Benjamin Fielman, 27, is charged with sexually abusing and taking sexually explicit photos and videos of three children ages 7 to 11. The incidents allegedly happened while Fielman was living in Commack at various times between 2009 and 2014.
Fielman was just extradited from Florida, where he is serving time after pleading guilty a few years ago to sexually abusing a 7-year-old girl. Before moving to Florida, Suffolk DA Tim Sini says Fielman also worked as an assistant teacher at the Suffolk JCC in Commack between 2008 and 2011 - a job that put him in direct contact with young children.

“We do have concern there are more victims out there, particularly here in Suffolk County,” says Sini.

Fielman was arraigned today on the new charges. His family is adamantly standing by him and previously created a fundraising page to help with his legal defense in the Florida case. His father told News 12 Long Island by phone that his son is innocent and only pleaded guilty in Florida to avoid a possible life sentence if convicted. He says the Florida case stemmed from a bad breakup with his accuser's mother.
As for the new charges, Ivan Fielman says he doesn't yet have all the details but maintains his son would never hurt a child. He says his son has worked in day care all his life and was even a foster father in Florida.
