Long Islanders still struggling to dry out from last week's nor'easter are bracing for more flooding as another coastal storm takes aim this week.

"We have flooding all the time," says Anthony Serravillo. "It's totally ridiculous."

Unusually high tides from the full moon and Friday's nor'easter have caused flooding on Bayview Avenue West and Arctic Street since Thursday night, trapping many residents in their homes. Some were forced to use boats to get around.

Some residents say they've had to move their cars to higher ground for the last few days. And they've donned waders and high boots to trudge through a foot of water, just to get out of their homes.

"We cannot get out. We can't go to work," resident Sean Zamani says. "Just stay home. That's it."

But future relief could be on the way, according to Lindenhurst Highway Superintendent Rick Sorrentino. He says a series of check valves will soon prevent bay water from backing up into storm drains.

Sorrentino says the village will install valves one at a time over the next six months.

In the meantime, eyes along Lindenhurst's coast are on the Great South Bay -- and the forecast -- as another storm sits on the horizon.
