A Paterson police officer has been arrested and charged in connection with with a drunken driving crash, officials said.

Authorities said Christopher Astacio was driving with two passengers when he crashed into a city train trestle near Straight and Fulton streets in December.

One passenger was found outside the vehicle with injuries, while the other occupant was trapped in the vehicle, police said. Astacio was hospitalized for a week.

Officials said it was determined that Astacio’s blood alcohol level was over the legal limit.

He is expected to appear in court on March 14.
