Underground fires caused some manhole explosions in Cranford.
Officials say that melting snow and rock salt reacted with PSEG equipment under North Avenue Monday afternoon, causing the fires.
No one was hurt, but crews did have to close a portion of North Avenue near the Cranford train station to make repairs.
Police say that the fire did not greatly impact local businesses, which were able to remain open during the repairs.
PSEG officials say that a local diner did lose power for a time.
