A 27-year-old Rockville Centre police officer is accused of secretly recording a woman during a sexual encounter, then sending a photo of the encounter to her on Snapchat.
According to court documents, the sexual encounter between Officer Christopher Stafford and the unnamed woman happened last Friday at a home on Scudders Lane in Roslyn Harbor.
Prosecutors say the female victim was unaware she was being recorded.
Court papers say, "The defendant did intentionally record the victim during their sexual encounter for his own amusement, entertainment and sexual arousal."
The documents go on to say that the victim became aware of the video after she received a Snapchat message from him.
"The caption on the photo sent to the victim from the defendant did read, 'Just in case. Folder,'" the court papers say.
News 12 attempted to ask Stafford about the allegations, but no one was home at his home in East Meadow.
The Rockville Centre Police Department referred questions to the village. A spokesperson for the village issued a statement saying Stafford has been suspended without pay and his badge and gun were taken from him.
Stafford was charged with second-degree unlawful surveillance – a felony in New York state.
Stafford was given conditional release and an order of protection was issued against him. He's due back in court on March 9.
