Mayor Bill de Blasio pledged to make New York City the fairest city in America in his State of the City address at the historic Kings Theatre in Brooklyn Tuesday night.
"We do this to ensure a better life for all 8 1/2 million of us," the mayor said. "We do this to preserve the social fabric of the most diverse place on Earth."
He also called for a new era of policing and better housing for all New Yorkers.
And he repeated some common topics from his first term, like the Thrive NYC mental health program created by his wife, Chirlane McCray.
