Norwalk Public Library holds session on genealogy

The Norwalk Public Library held the first of three sessions Monday about genealogy.

The series will help people track down their ancestors through software programs, newspapers, and DNA.

Genealogy experts say people are naturally curious about their family's history.

"People just love finding out who they are, and they want to know who came before them,” says ancestry teacher Phebe Kirkham. “They want to know where they came from, they want to know why they came here. It's just a fascinating hobby to have and as a matter of fact, I think it's the largest hobby across the nation. There are more people doing genealogy than any other hobby."

The genealogy series will also teach participants how to use Ancestry.com, which is free to use at the Norwalk Library.

The next two sessions will take place on Feb. 26 and March 5 at 12 p.m.
