Alleged MS-13 gang member arrested in connection with 2016 murder

An alleged MS-13 gang member is behind bars Friday in connection with a 2016 murder in Brentwood.

Jerlin Villalta, 21, is accused of murdering 18-year-old Jose Pena-Hernandez, of Brentwood, in 2016. Hernandez was killed in June and his remains were found four months later at the Pilgrim State Psychiatric Center.

Villalta, who was among 13 charged in the murder, was arrested at an immigration office this week by the FBI's Long Island Gang Task Force.
