The new owners of Dowling College reportedly want to open another college in its place.

Mercury International LLC tells Newsday it wants to designate the Oakdale campus as an Islip Town landmark district.

The move would require a special permit from the town planning board.

Dowling went bankrupt and closed in 2016.
