Police: Body found inside burning car in E. Patchogue

Police are investigating an incident in which a person was found dead in the driver's seat of a car that burned in an East Patchogue parking lot.
Police responded to a 911 report of a car on fire in the parking lot of an auto shop located at Montauk Highway around 8:30 p.m. Sunday.
Fire officials extinguished the fire without incident before discovering a body burned beyond recognition inside the vehicle.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, and the medical examiner will perform an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
The victim has since been identified as Mohammad Rafiq, 65, of Baldwin.
Police tell News 12 they believe the fire is not suspicious.
