NJ lawmakers try to revive Gateway Tunnel Project

Some of New Jersey’s lawmakers are working to revive the apparently dead Gateway Tunnel Project.
The federal Department of Transportation pulled out of talks to help build the rail tunnel between New York and New Jersey last summer.
Now Rep. Josh Gottheimer is co-sponsoring a bill that would require the U.S. Secretary of Transportation to appoint a federal representative within 30 days to jump-start the project.
“This project can’t be a political football. It should be a bipartisan solution for America, our regional economy and for our country’s economy,” Gottheimer said.
The bill is co-sponsored by New York Rep. Peter King.
