Police: Syosset High School hate graffiti vandals captured

SYOSSET -

Police say they have arrested five Syosset High School students who spray-painted hate graffiti all over their school this past summer.

News 12 reported in August that profanities, swastikas and other anti-Semitic writings were found on the walls, doors and windows in the back of the school.

Police identified a female allegedly seen on surveillance footage as Alexa Ronayne. She and three others were issued appearance tickets for their alleged crimes. Alexa's mother had no comment to News 12 Long Island regarding the allegations.

The fifth teen, Angelo Madia, was charged with aggravated harassment and held overnight in jail because investigators say he was the one who painted the swastikas.

There was no one home at the Madia home when News 12 attempted to get a comment from the family.

In a statement Syosset Schools superintendent says "the incident serves as a reminder that the work of building a tolerant and inclusive school community is an ongoing shared process between our schools-parents and greater Syosset community. We must be vigilant to reinforce those values as adults and to pass them on to the next generation."
