Plans to bring a third track to the LIRR in Nassau County have moved a step closer to reality.
The MTA approved $1.9 billion in funding for the third track project on Wednesday.
The plan would call for the rail to be built between Floral Park and Hicksville.
While supporters say the project would reduce delays, opponents near the tracks are worried of potential extra traffic and a decrease in property values.
