A menorah made from metal salvaged from rockets fired from Gaza and exploded in Israel is shining brightly in Cedarhurst.
Students of HAFTR High School say the message of the menorah is simple: It takes something evil and ugly and makes it light and bright. For them that means singing and dancing and eating foods like latkes and jelly-filled doughnuts.
Students say the menorah also shows their solidarity with Israel.
The menorah in Cedarhurst is a replica of one that sits on the rooftop of a school in the Israeli city of Sderot.
