MIDDLE ISLAND -

A Shirley mom will be arraigned today on charges she was driving high and overdosed with her kids in the car.

Police say Tara Fontana, 38, crashed into a utility pole on Middle Country Road in Middle Island late last month.

According to police, when they arrived Fontana had to be revived with the opioid overdose tool Narcan. Fontana’s 9-year-old son and 2-week-old daughter were in the back of the car.

Police say Fontana has prior DWI and DUI convictions.
